First:
Optimal dental health.
This involves elimination of dental disease - gum disease,
tooth decay, and infection in order to preserve teeth for
a lifetime.
Second:
Optimal dental repair.
This involves restoring the dentition to it's optimal function
and strength - repairing broken and decayed teeth, replacing
missing teeth,
and restoring chewing and biting efficiency.
Third:
Cosmetic enhancement
of the teeth.
It is
extremely important when developing an overall, long-term
treatment plan that all three of these priorities be
fully examined and incorporated with each other into a well
thought-out blueprint that co-insides with each individual's
expressed wants. This must be done before any treatment
is rendered to avoid confusion and conflicts of intention.
Although
cosmetic dentistry is third on our list of priorities, it
can be and often is incorporated into early treatment. If
restorative and health issues are not of an immediate issue,
cosmetic procedures can often be performed early and actually
increase enthusiasm for upgrading to optimal repair dentistry
due to increased pride and esteem for our teeth and smiles.
